9 arrested, 16 cited at Santa Rosa DUI checkpoint 

(KRON) – The Santa Rosa Police Department arrested nine people at a DUI checkpoint, the department announced. 

The checkpoint was held from 8 p.m. until midnight on Friday at Morgan Street and Fifth Street.

Santa Rosa police officers contacted 698 vehicles in the operation. According to SRPD, 11 drivers were evaluated for DUI and two were arrested for driving under the influence.

According to Santa Rosa PD, nine drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed and seven drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended/revoked license.

There were several arrests at the DUI checkpoint, including:

  • 1 driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance
  • 2 drivers were arrested for outstanding warrants.
  • 2 drivers were arrested for probation violations
  • 2 drivers were arrested for failing to have a court-ordered ignition interlock device in their vehicle

The department said officers conduct DUI checkpoints to “promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.”
