Joseph Gordon-Levitt Says He Loved Watching Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi: ‘Looks Like A Scorsese Movie At Times’
Hollywood actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently confessed his admiration for Gangubai Kathiawadi during his appearance as the first guest of the 14th season of IFP Fest in Mumbai. In a candid conversation with Rajkummar Rao, the Inception star shared that he had recently watched the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film and was left deeply impressed by it.
“I was just watching that movie and found it so beautiful and unique,” Gordon-Levitt said, expressing his fascination. “It’s completely different from anything I’ve seen. It’s a very heavy and distinguished drama that at times looks like a Scorsese movie. It’s gorgeous.”
The actor praised the film’s cinematic qualities, describing it as a sincere piece of work that left him captivated. Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt in the titular role, has garnered international praise for its portrayal of a powerful woman in the face of adversity, and Gordon-Levitt was no exception to its charm. “It made me want to learn more about Indian cinema. It’s honestly part of the reason why I wanted to come here,” he revealed.
Touched by the artistry and passion for cinema that he felt in India, the actor even hinted at his desire to work in the country. “I love what I’m feeling from the culture here. There’s genuine love for movies and artistry. I wanna come here and make a movie.”
