US, Germany launch joint conflict stability program for West African coastal states
The United States and Germany have launched a $40 million joint initiative, the Coastal States Stability Mechanism, across five West African states, focusing on countering terrorism and extremism. Unlike past military-driven efforts, this program emphasizes community-led developmental approaches to address the root causes of instability and promote good governance and economic development.
