The Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE has been approved by the US President-election Donald Trump who won a second term in November 5 presidential elections. Taking to X, Trump posted an official release naming SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and fellow Republican Vivek Ramaswamy as the heads of the Department.
A brainchild of Musk, DOGE is humourously named after the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin which has won numerous endorsements from the billionaire.

While Musk supporters are rejoicing at a meme actually being part of the US government, his critics and Democrats are disappointed. Many say the country is heading in the wrong direction arguing that Musk isn’t even an American who got chosen by a convicted future President.
As usual, memes are flooding X as unhappy Americans are trying to cope with the election results.
“America is that what you wanted? Two unqualified people running sh*t?” posted a user. “Calling it D.O.G.E. is such an idiocracy moment for a weird billionaire buying himself the government,” said another.

But there are also those who are enjoying the scenes unfolding before them. Most of them Musk and Trump supporters, they believe that DOGE will be successful in serving its purpose which is reducing government spending, slashing over regulation and dismantling government bureaucracy.
This means there will be layoffs in the US government, and we have memes on that as well. Notably, about 80 percent of staff members either left or were fired after Musk bought X (formerly Twitter).
Earlier on Thursday, DOGE’s X account invited super high-IQ applicants who are willing to work over 80 hours on “unglamourous cost-cutting.” The top 1 percent of the applicants will be reviewed by Musk and Ramaswamy.
