Arrests made in fatal shooting of man found in car near Disneyland
Two arrests have been made in connection with the shooting death of a man found in a car in a residential neighborhood near Disneyland over the weekend, authorities announced late Wednesday night.
The violence unfolded on Dec. 8 in the 200 block of S. Margie Lane in Anaheim, according to a news release from the Anaheim Police Department.
Officers responded to the area just before 9 p.m. and found 25-year-old Kenneth Swets unresponsive in his vehicle, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Medical personnel with the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and declared the 25-year-old dead at the scene.
Video taken just after the shooting shows officers taping off the area while beginning to search for clues, and several evidence markers were seen near a gray sedan.
Kathryn Kelly, who claims to live next door to Swets, told KTLA 5 Orange County Bureau Chief Chip Yost that she heard several “booms” while inside her home and immediately knew they were gunshots.
“My daughter got up and I said ‘That was a gunshot’ and then my dog ran into the backyard and I’m thinking that my dog is going to get shot,” Kelly said. “I didn’t hear anything else until my son came and said ‘Mom, there’s crime scene tape next door.’”
She described the victim as a “super good young man” who frequently went to the gym and was part of “a wonderful family.”
The neighborhood in which the fatal shooting occurred lies immediately to the west of the Anaheim Convention Center and southwest of Disneyland.
A man and a woman, now identified as 41-year-old Corona resident Rashaadd Eugene Royal and 51-year-old Moreno Valley resident Jennifer Camacho Mandap, both of whom knew Swets, the release noted, were arrested on Dec. 11.
Homicide investigators, who did not provide any information on a possible motive for the fatal shooting, said the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
