Burglars steal $13K in equipment from Thornton esthetics shop
DENVER (KDVR) — The owner of a Thornton esthetician shop says thieves stole about $13,000 worth of equipment last week from the 104th Avenue shop.
Anna Brinkhoff opened Bella Tu Esthetics just a few weeks ago. She was planning a big, splashy grand opening in January, and spent years gathering resources to open her own business.
Thornton police said they are investigating the overnight theft of 2090 E. 104th Ave. However, no arrests have been made and the family said the building’s security system malfunctioned. Police told the family that the thief may have watched the business owner move items into the shop before the robbery.
“It’s just hard-hitting,” said Brinkhoff, adding that the crooks were able to open a window.
She said that insurance has said it will cover a small portion of the loss — a few hundred dollars — but the loss will cause her to have to restart her business. Items that were taken included tattoo machines for permanent makeup, towel warmers, steamers and other esthetician tools.
A spokesperson for the Thornton Police Department said directed patrols are being increased in commercial areas.
