An illegal fireworks show lit up the night sky in one Los Angeles County city over the weekend.
The display occurred Saturday night in Compton and startled many unsuspecting residents.
Several people lined the street near the city’s Department of Motor Vehicles as the show went off. Video showed multiple explosions that could be heard from miles away.
One video showed a fire erupting nearby, although officials have not confirmed what was burning or whether it was related to the illegal show.
There was no immediate word on who planned or paid for the display.
It was unclear if anyone was injured or if any arrests were made.
