WWE and Netflix Announce Multiple New Wrestling Shows Are Coming

WWE Raw is coming to Netflix on January 6, but that’s not all. The world’s largest streaming platform has stealthily revealed five WWE new shows debuting ahead of that, on January 1.

While Raw may be WWE’s flagship (and most popular by far) show, it appears that Netflix is not going to put all its streaming eggs in that pro wrestling basket. Five new shows have popped up on Netflix’s upcoming selections, which include:

• WWE Top 10
• “Monday Night Raw hosts some of the biggest and best matches in WWE history, featuring Superstars John Cena, Triple H, Becky Lynch and more.”
• WWE RAW Classics
• “Big E hosts this collection of most-see Raw matches and moments, featuring WWE Superstars and Legends including CM Punk, Becky Lynch and Triple H.”
• WWE Road to WrestleMania
• “The Road to WrestleMania goes through Raw, where WWE’s top Superstars raise the stakes in must-see matches and thrilling moments.”
• WWE Superstar Profiles
• “WWE Superstars step inside the squared circle in pursuit of championships and glory in front of the WWE Universe.”
• WWE Legends Profiles
• “Legendary Superstars of WWE make history with unforgettable matches and moments inside the squared circle.”

The partnership between Netflix and WWE is a pretty huge investment for both, with the wrestling promotion, in particular, breaking new ground by going whole-hog into streaming.

During the WWE Survivor Series: WarGames Post-Show, Paul “Triple H” Levesque highlighted WWE’s expansion efforts, with a particular focus on the company’s move to Netflix as a key element of its global growth strategy.

“As you know, this is part of WWE’s global expansion, which we’ve been very focused on in the last year, and a lot of that has to do with our deal that we have with Netflix,” Levesque said. “At that time, 80% of the globe will hit Netflix live with Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and all our PLEs. US will be slightly different, but that includes all of Canada, so when that date hits, you’re gonna get all WWE programming here. It’s a game-changer for WWE.”

During the NFL live-streaming Christmas games, Netflix also debuted a new trailer for its WWE programs:

In just a week, WWE and Netflix are going to debut their grand experiment and see whether professional wrestling can transition wholly into the streaming world. They’re clearly throwing everything they have at it.
