Student stabbed at Mission Hills High School in San Marcos

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station is investigating a stabbing incident that occurred on Wednesday at Mission Hills High School. The incident was reported just before 3:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

According to authorities, a call was received at the Sheriff’s Communications Center from an individual claiming to have been stabbed on school grounds. A Sheriff’s School Resource Deputy stationed at the high school located the victim shortly thereafter.

School staff quickly transported the injured student to the nurse’s office, where he received immediate medical attention before being rushed to a local hospital. Although the victim suffered serious injuries, he is expected to survive.

As deputies responded to the scene, they gathered information regarding a possible suspect, who was arrested at his home a short time later. Both the victim and the suspect are students at Mission Hills High School, authorities confirmed.

In accordance with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office policy regarding juveniles, no further information about the minors involved will be released.

Mission Hills High School was placed on lockdown just before 3:40 p.m. The lockdown was lifted within minutes once the suspect was in custody, ensuring the safety of other students and staff.

The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station expressed gratitude to Mission Hills High School and the San Marcos Unified School District for their cooperation during the investigation.

“The safety of our school children is a priority for the Sheriff’s Office,” a spokesperson from the station said. “We take all threats seriously and encourage students to report any concerns to our School Resource Deputies or call the anonymous Student Speaking Out Hotline at (888) 580-8477.”

The investigation is ongoing and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward by calling the station at (760) 510-5200.
