How cold will it get in Denver on New Year's Eve?
DENVER (KDVR) — If you plan on leaving the house on New Year’s Eve, you may want to grab a coat to go with your sequins and party hats.
Denver has been unusually warm for December, reaching 60 degrees a handful of times this month. While other areas of Colorado are seeing cooler temperatures with snow, Denver has been mostly above freezing heading into 2025.
Despite the mild temperatures when the sun is up, you will need a jacket by the time the ball drops.
New Year’s Eve forecast in Denver
On Tuesday, the weather will stay above freezing in the high 30s. Skies will stay clear throughout the day and into the night.
However, by the time the sun sets before 5 p.m., the Pinpoint Weather team said the temperature will dip below freezing, making it potentially the chilliest night in about two weeks.
By midnight, temperatures will be in the low 20s and will continue to drop. Overnight, temperatures will hit 16 degrees, which will be the coldest temperature since mid-December when Denver recorded 18 degrees on Dec. 18.
You’ll need a jacket if you’re headed out for New Year’s Eve fireworks or light parades, but luckily the coldest temperature won’t hit until the morning hours around 6-7 a.m.
By New Year’s Day, the temperatures will warm up to the low 40s and will stay sunny, making it a pleasant start to the new year.
