Albany Police arrest man accused of assault
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Police have charged an Albany man accused of assaulting a 50-year-old man on Friday, Nov. 8. Police said James Farmer, 41, is facing multiple charges.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, police on patrol saw two men fighting near Jay Street and Quail Street. Police said they saw one man, who was later identified as Farmer, hit the other man over the head with a glass bottle and punch him several times in the back of the head.
Police said that when they tried to intervene, Farmer ignored the officers’ commands and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Additionally, police said an officer sustained an injury to his hand when apprehending Farmer as he was resisting arrest.

- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Disorderly conduct
- Second-degree obstructing governmental administration
- Resisting arrest
Farmer was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Saturday morning. He remains in Albany County Jail.
