Alleged trespasser shot by deputy near Metrolink tracks in San Bernadino County
One person was hospitalized after being shot by a deputy responding to a trespassing call in Redlands Monday morning, authorities said.
Law enforcement was sent to the area near a Metrolink crossing at Nevada Street to investigate the trespassing report at around 7:30 a.m., a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
“A lethal force encounter” occurred after a deputy located the subject, the spokesperson said.
No details about what prompted the deputy to open fire during the encounter were provided.
The unidentified person was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the person was not released.
The deputy was not injured in the incident, the spokesperson said.
