Baby’s remains found in field in Little Hulton, Greater Manchester
The remains of a baby has been found in a field in Greater Manchester, police have said.
The discovery was made by a dog walker on Wednesday in Little Hulton, a suburb of Salford.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to Ravenscraig Road, near Ashtons Field, at about 1pm.
Police said they were pursuing “several lines of enquiry”.
They also said a post-mortem examination was underway, but that officers did not yet know the sex or ethnicity of the child, who they have named “Baby A”.
Chief superintendent and district commander for Salford, Neil Blackwood, said police were working with partner agencies in the area to try and identify the remains and work out how long they have been there.
He urged anyone with information to get in touch, saying that “even the most minor detail” could be “crucial” to their investigation.
