Belka The ‘Russian Hachiko’ Waits 4 Days For Owner On Ice Where Owner Drowned; Internet Is Heartbroken
Belka, a Russian doggo, shattered the collective hearts online for refusing to leave the site of its owner who drowned in the Ufa river. The Russian Hachiko waited for ist 51-year-old owner who fell through thin ice into 23-foot of freezing water and was swept away. A passerby tried in vain to help the victim but the current was too strong. It took four days to locate the mortal remains of the man, even as the loyal pup waited for its owner to resurface. It tarried along the same spot on the river bank waiting, unaware of the owner’s fate. The family of the owner tried getting the doggo back home but it would return to the spot and remain vigilant. The rescue mission of the owner ended in frostbite injuries of one of the rescuers.

“Heartbreaking sorry pup,” wrote one user, while another remarked, “Beautiful soul. We don’t deserve dogs.” Another user shared the story of the beloved feline buddy of her deceased son. The son’s cat sat by the urn for 9 months refusing to leave. The family kept food and water and litter nearby. It soon developed an aggressive cancer so fast that the vet could not save it. Strangely (and very sadly) it died the very next day of the first death anniversary of the son.

My son’s cat sat with my son’s urn for 9 months refusing to leave it. We had to put his food water and litter by there. The kitty then developed a very fast cancer that the vet could not save him, and died almost to the day a year after my son did. I know they are together now ❤️🩹— HJEngland 🎨🗽🇺🇸🦄 (@HJEnglandArtist) November 27, 2024
Incidentally Belka was also the name of one of the two dogs, 40 mice, and two rats that were sent to space in the Sputnik mission in 1960.
