Black single mother sues PNC bank, claims denial of promotion due to bias against her race and parenting status – Times of India

A hard-working employee of a PNC bank alleged that she was denied a promotion due to being a black single mother and filed a complaint.
Brandie Falice commenced her employment with the bank in 2018, and as she informed WSBTV, she progressed swiftly to a senior position within months of joining, Daily Mail reported.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on branch operations, she continued advancing and secured an assistant branch manager position in 2022.
Subsequently, she applied for a management role at a Peachtree Corners, Georgia branch.
According to her legal complaint, during the interview process, she was informed she would not suit the position as the branch primarily served white customers.
The lawsuit also states that the regional manager conducting the interview suggested her status as a single mother, unable to work weekends, made her unsuitable for the role.
In her interview with the outlet, she said: “It does feel like you’re judged and it feels like you’re not worthy as other people.”
She further expressed: “I felt discouraged and I felt the time I spent with this company and my efforts to reach my goals in that space were shot down because of something that I love about myself.”
PNC Bank has contested these allegations, stating: “We believe Falice was treated fairly and consistent with our company values, policies and practices. PNC does not tolerate discrimination or retaliation and we look forward to presenting the facts in court.”
Her legal representative, Artur Davis, told the outlet: “It’s a chance for them to show some accountability. How many young women of colour are being denied opportunities for the same kinds of bias reasons used to hold Brandie Falice back.”
Currently, according to her LinkedIn profile, Falice has departed from PNC Bank and holds a Senior Account Executive position at an IT organisation.
