Bowling alley to open in downtown Walnut Creek this week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KRON) — Shoppers in downtown Walnut Creek will soon have more options for fun as a bowling alley is set to open this week. Pinstripes is set to open this Friday, Nov. 15 at Broadway Plaza.

The bowling alley and restaurant is located at 1115 Broadway Plaza, the former space occupied by Crate & Barrel, a Broadway Plaza spokesperson told KRON4. Crate & Barrel has since moved across the street. Pinstripes is located next to the Apple Store.

Across 25,000 square feet and two floors, Pinstripes will have eight bowling lanes two indoor bocce courts and a 100-seat bistro, the company said in a news release. There will also be “expansive outdoor patios” and spaces available for private events for groups of 20 and up to 1,500.

Pinstripes’ Walnut Creek location marks the Midwest-based chain’s second in the Bay Area, joining San Mateo’s Hillsdale Mall. The other California location is at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Los Angeles.

“Pinstripes is excited to open in Walnut Creek, offering nearby residents and businesses a new hotspot to revel in dining, entertainment, and memories,” Pinstripes Founder and CEO Dale Schwartz said in a statement. “We extend a warm welcome to our inaugural guests, inviting them to indulge in culinary delights, immersive entertainment, and memorable gatherings.”

Pinstripes is finally opening in downtown Walnut Creek after initially announcing on Instagram its planned opening was for winter 2023.

Since being founded in Chicago in 2007, there are now 18 Pinstripes locations nationwide. Pinstripes features a full-service bistro that serves Italian-American cuisine.

Other additions coming to downtown Walnut Creek include San Francisco staple Original Joe’s opening about two blocks south on South Main Street. That restaurant is scheduled to open in spring of 2025.

Walnut Creek’s first non-alcoholic bar, Sipeos, is also set to open this month at 126 Broadway Lane, between Macy’s and True Food Kitchen.
