ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The restaurant industry is ever-changing with restaurants opening, closing, relocating, or just doing their thing. Here’s a recap of the latest Capital Region restaurant news, October 7 through 11.

Schenectady Wing Walk winners announced

The winners have been announced for the 11th annual Schenectady Wing Walk, which took place on Saturday, October 5. The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation said a record number of 23 restaurants participated in the event.

Schenectady burger joint permanently closes

Dave’s Gourmet Burgers and More, located at 16 Edison Avenue in Schenectady, has permanently closed its doors. The restaurant made the announcement on its Facebook page on October 5.

Peruvian restaurant opening in Watervliet

Edith and Oscar Geronimo, the owners of Greenbush Salsa Latina in East Greenbush, are opening up another restaurant. Quechua Peruvian Restaurant will be in the former Teta Marie’s Lebanese Restaurant space at 1297 Broadway in Watervliet.

Capital Region restaurant inspections: September 30- October 4

These are the inspections from September 30 to October 4 reported by the NYSDOH divided up by critical violations, non-critical violations and no violations. You can find a list of all restaurant inspections for the last several years on the NYSDOH website.

New Rotterdam restaurant celebrates grand opening

A brand new Italian American restaurant has opened its doors in Rotterdam. The Palazzo Ristorante is located at the former Joe’s Pizza Place at Hamburg Street.

TGI Fridays in Clifton Park permanently closes

TGI Fridays, located at 1 Southside Drive in Clifton Park, has permanently closed its doors. The closure was confirmed to NEWS10 by an employee at the restaurant.

Capital Region restaurants supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month provides resources to those wanting to learn about breast cancer, as well as ways to donate. For the month of October, some Capital Region restaurants are offering specials with a part of the proceeds being donated to breast cancer research.

The best bagel shops in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley

Yelp recently released an article listing the top 100 bagel shops in New York for 2024. In this article, there are mainly bagel shops from New York City, but there are also 12 shops listed from the Capital Region and the Hudson Valley.

Chinese restaurant celebrates grand opening in Halfmoon

Koi Modern Chinese Cuisine is celebrating its grand opening in Halfmoon. The restaurant is located in the former SparX Fine Chinese Cuisine space at 1570 Route 9.

Korean street food eatery opens in Latham

A new restaurant has opened in Latham. Kbowl had its grand opening on October 1 in the same plaza as Dollar General and Latham Bagel Shop at 638 Columbia Street Extension.

Saratoga’s Putnam Market changing wine room to café

After 26 years, William Roach, the Wine Director of The Wine Room in Putnam Market in downtown Saratoga Springs, is retiring. This means, The Wine Room will be closing. To replace The Wine Room, The Café at Putnam Market will be opening in January
