Chicago's winter overnight parking ban officially in effect
CHICAGO — Monday is the first day Chicago’s winter overnight parking ban is officially in effect.
From now until April 1, the parking ban is enforced on pre-designated streets, regardless of snow on the ground, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.
The ban was supposed to start overnight Dec. 1, but instead, workers with the city left flyers that issued warnings to violators.
Violators of the parking ban will be towed and face a minimum $150 towing fee, a $60 ticket, and a $25 storage fee per day.
If you become a victim of the overnight parking ban, Chicagoans can call 311 to find out which of the two city impound lots their vehicle was taken to.
The city says the ban avoids a repeat of Chicago’s history of preventing emergency vehicles from passing through during snowstorms.
