Colorado Buffs climb to No. 21, set to face Texas Tech

DENVER (KDVR) — Following another bye week, the University of Colorado Buffaloes have moved up on AP’s Top 25 Poll as they prepare to face the Red Raiders in Lubbock, Texas.

Even though the Buffs had an off week to reset and practice, seven ranked teams suffered losses this past weekend, propelling the CU team up two spots on the poll. The Buffs now sit at No. 21.

After a win against Cincinnati on Oct. 26, the Buffs are now bowl-eligible. But before Deion Sanders and his boys go bowling, the team will travel to the Lone Star State to face Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders are coming off an electric win after defeating No. 17 Iowa State on Saturday, reaching bowl eligibility.

The Colorado-Texas faceoff will be featured on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff. This will be the first time the Buffs have been featured on the show this season. Big Noon Kickoff will begin at 8 a.m. and kickoff is at 2 p.m. MST.

Deion hits players with a reality check

Before the Buffs face the Red Raiders, head coach Sanders had a few words about academic performance.

On Monday, Sports Illustrated said Sanders emphasized that academic performance is just as critical as athletic prowess and that there would be consequences for players whose grades do not meet the team’s standards.

“It’s amazing how these grades correlate with who you are,” Sanders told his team, reinforcing that F’s are unacceptable.

The Buffs only have four games left in the regular season with an overall standing of 6-2.

Sanders will speak at the University of Colorado Boulder at 11 a.m. to talk about the away game against Texas Tech and how he plans to continue motivating his team as the season nears its end.
