Crews battle large fire at Hawthorn Woods home
HAWTHORN WOODS, Ill. – A large fire broke out at a home in Hawthorn Woods Saturday afternoon.
The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department said the fire started just after 3 p.m. at a home in the 0-100 block of Rosewood Drive.
Firefighters did an immediate search of the home and did not find anyone inside, according to investigators.
Officials said the fire escalated to a third-alarm fire and crews had to bring in fire engines that carry water as the home was in an area that has no municipal water fire hydrants.
An electric vehicle was also on fire in the garage, which made fighting the fire a bit more complicated.
Officials are unsure what caused the fire and are currently investigating.
