Denver Zoo offering free admission to kids through end of year
DENVER (KDVR) — The holiday season may have your children’s spirits high, and the Denver Zoo has the perfect thing to keep them busy while on winter break.
Through Dec. 31, the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance is offering “Free Kids December” in partnership with Primrose Schools. All children 15 years old and younger will receive free daytime admission through the end of the year.
With the free admission, kids can learn about the zoo’s more than 2,500 animals across its 80-acre campus. The zoo said the free admission includes access to popular habitats like Toyota Elephant Passage, Benson Predator Ridge, Down Under and the recently renovated Tropical Discovery.
The Denver Zoo also offers daily animal talks and demonstrations with Asian elephants, African penguins, bighorn sheep, flamingos, vampire bats, tigers and other animals.
The Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance said it is open daily, except Christmas Day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adults accompanying children can purchase tickets for $15.75. Those older than 65 years old can purchase a ticket for $13.65.
While the first official day of winter is on Saturday, Denver’s temperatures are expected to be pretty moderate for zoo-goers.
The Pinpoint Weather team has mostly clear and moderate conditions for the next seven days. For Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will be above normal in the upper 50s. As Christmas approaches, conditions will stay mild.
If you are looking for a nighttime activity, Denver Zoo Lights runs through Jan. 5. General admission prices will cost adults and seniors $25 and children $18. Peak nights will cost adults and seniors $28 and children $21. Tickets can be purchased on the zoo’s website.
