Divya Khossla Slams Alia Bhatt For Faking Jigra Box Office Collection: ‘Theatre Was Totally Empty…’
Look like there’s a new feud brewing between Divya Khosla and Alia Bhatt over their respective films, Savi and Jigra and it has now taken a sharp turn, with Divya Khosla intensifying the controversy through a pointed social media post. Divya recently took to Instagram, sharing a photo of an empty theater, and directly aimed at Alia, claiming that screenings of Jigra were seeing poor attendance.
Divya captioned the image with a scathing remark, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty … all theaters going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai… khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye (Alia really has a lot of courage, bought tickets herself and faked the box office numbers). Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra Х (sic).”
Using clever wordplay, Divya sarcastically accused Alia of inflating the box office figures by buying her own tickets. The hashtags and tone of her post suggested that she was questioning the authenticity of Jigra’s reported success, subtly challenging Alia’s “courage” to face the actual performance of the film.
This isn’t the first time Divya has commented on the apparent similarities between Savi and Jigra. Earlier, she addressed the issue, acknowledging that both films share common themes, particularly the jailbreak element, but expressed confidence in her film’s uniqueness and success. Savi, which stars Harshvardhan Rane and Anil Kapoor, revolves around a housewife’s mission to break her husband out of a high-security prison, drawing inspiration from the mythological story of Savitri and Satyavan. On the other hand, Jigra, featuring Alia Bhatt, follows a sister’s daring attempt to rescue her brother from prison.
Divya had previously told IANS, “Yes, I too have been getting this question a lot from the media, the industry, and the trade that Savi and Jigra are seeming very similar, the plot and everything. Well, I would just like to say that with the love of the audience and the grace of God, Savi has proved its worth totally on its own merits. We had a very good run in theatres and OTT too, topping charts in various countries.”
Despite acknowledging the similarities, Divya expressed that each film has its own path and journey. However, her recent Instagram post hints at lingering tension, with Divya clearly dissatisfied with how Jigra is being portrayed in the media.
