Drone-using criminals may be behind string of home burglaries in Southern California

Authorities are advising residents of one neighborhood in the Santa Clarita Valley to be extra vigilant following a string of burglaries in which a drone may have been used. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that they have been looking into a series of burglaries that occurred in the Stevenson Ranch community near Santa Clarita. 

All of the incidents occurred over a seven-day span, deputies said, although the exact dates and locations were not disclosed. 

“At least three incidents have been documented, and preliminary reports suggest that a drone may have been used in connection with these crimes,” the LASD media bulletin reads. 

Authorities elaborated that due to “active community cooperation,” they have discovered promising leads and are actively investigating them. No further details surrounding the investigation – including descriptions of a potential suspect or suspects – were released. 

“We urge all residents across the Santa Clarita Valley to take proactive steps to secure their homes and report suspicious activity immediately,” officials said. “We appreciate the continued support and vigilance of our community as we work together to maintain safety and security for all.”
