Ending violence against women
This letter refers to the editorial ‘Cost of silence’ (November 24, 2024). Heinous acts of violence against women and girls still occur because perpetrators believe they can escape accountability. To prevent such crimes, special courts should be set up to ensure that murderers receive the punishment they deserve.
These punishments should be widely covered in the media to serve as a warning and deterrent to others. Women in Pakistan are often treated as second-class citizens. We must ensure that they are treated better and protect their rights.
