Fatal pedestrian crash on SR-78 in Escondido causes road closures
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A pedestrian was killed on SR-78 in Escondido Sunday evening, prompting road closures in the area, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol and paramedics responded to reports for a vehicle vs pedestrian collision at 9:22 p.m. Sunday on SR-78 near Rock Springs Road and Centre City Parkway in Escondido.
There is not much information at this time, however CHP is reporting it was a fatal collision.
Traffic was being diverted from SR-78 eastbound to Centre City Parkway as crews worked to clear the scene.
The collision happened near the interchange with I-15 where there has been overnight construction in the area recently.
