Former Orange mayor, city councilmember dies at 67
Mark A. Murphy, former mayor and councilmember of the City of Orange, died at his home on Thursday night, the city announced.
In a post to social media, the city said that Murphy died during an unspecified “medical emergency.”
He was first elected to the city council in 1993 and mayor in 2000. Murphy was born in Orange, and lived there until his death.
“Iām saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend Mark Murphy, a pillar of Orange who devoted his career to giving back to our community,” said Rep. Young Kim. “Sending my deepest condolences to his loved ones as the Orange community comes together to remember his lasting impact.”
While serving the city, Murphy also worked full-time at Hewlett-Packard for more than 30 years.
Mark is survived by his wife Vikki and mother Lois.
