Natalya is one of only 4,000 remaining residents in Lyman in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. She feeds the birds every day and says they will being peace. Russian forces have recently ramped up their attacks on the town, which had a population of more than 20,000 in 2022, knocking out infrastructure and destroying buildings and forcing many to leave.
