Inmate apprehended at border after escape
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — An incarcerated person who walked away from a Male Community Reentry Program in San Diego has been apprehended, authorities said.
On Monday around 11:20 a.m., Michael A. Jacobson was arrested at the United States/Mexican Border, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a news release. He may face possible escape charges.
Jacobson, who has been housed at the MCRP in San Diego since Dec. 26, 2023, was previously sentenced to nine years to first-degree burglary as a second striker with an enhancement for a prior felony conviction of a serious offense.
Ninety-nine percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp, or in-state contract bed or Community Rehabilitative Program Placement since 1977 have been apprehended, according to CDCR.
