‘Keep Kamala and carry-on-la’: Harris makes hilarious appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live’; watch video – Times of India

Kamala Harris and Maya Rudolph

Democratic presidential nominee and vice president Kamala Harris made a splash this weekend with her surprise appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ In a comedic exchange, Harris appeared alongside longtime cast member Maya Rudolph, who portrayed her with playful accuracy.

The segment opened with Rudolph’s Kamala expressing a desire to speak with someone who understands her experience: “I wish I could talk to someone who’s been in my shoes, a Black, South Asian woman running for President.” Harris, playing off the moment, replied, “You and me both, sister,” setting the tone for a lighthearted dialogue.
Throughout their two-minute exchange, Harris took a jab at her opponent, former President Donald Trump, referencing a recent incident in which he struggled to open a garbage truck door during a campaign stop in Green Bay, Wisconsin. “It is nice to see you, Kamala, and I just want to remind you that you can do something your opponent cannot do,” Harris told Rudolph. “You can open doors.”
The two then played with Harris’ first name, which Trump has often mispronounced. “Take my palm-ala,” Rudolph said as she took Harris’ hand. “The American people want to stop the chaos and end the dram-ala with a cool new step-mamala. Kick back in our pajam-alas and watch a rom-com-ala.” Harris, drawing on her background as a former prosecutor and state attorney general, suggested putting on ‘Legally Blond-ala.’
The two Harrises wore identical outfits: a black blouse, black blazer, and black slacks, both adorned with a double strand of pearls and American flag pins on their lapels.
In a powerful moment, they urged supporters to “Keep Kamala and carry-on-ala,” reiterating their shared belief in the promise of America before delivering the classic ‘SNL’ sign-off: “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
