Longhorns volleyball falls to rival Sooners, lose 3rd consecutive 5-set match
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The No. 9 Texas volleyball team lost its third consecutive five-set match Sunday to rival Oklahoma at Gregory Gym.
Set scores were 21-25, 27-25, 25-19, 17-25, 9-15.

The Longhorns are 0-5 this season when matches go to five sets. Texas A&M and Missouri also beat the Longhorns in five sets in Austin.
Oklahoma’s Alexis Shelton smacked a match-high 27 kills with eight errors on 52 attempts for a .365 hitting percentage. Kamille Gibson chipped in 14 kills and Kari Geissberger had 13. The Sooners notched 16.5 total blocks to Texas’ 10.
For the Longhorns, Madisen Skinner had 17 kills with 11 errors on 49 attempts for a .122 hitting average. She also had 11 digs. Reagan Rutherford had 15 kills with four errors on 32 attempts for a team-leading .334 hitting average.
Emma Halter had 12 digs and Averi Carlson had 44 set assists for Texas. Ayden Ames had six block assists.
The loss dropped the Longhorns into a tie for third place with Florida at 7-3 in the Southeastern Conference standings, a half-game behind Missouri and a full game behind Kentucky.
Texas (12-6, 7-3) travels to Starkville, Mississippi, to face Mississippi State on Wednesday.
