Man stabbed on BART train in Walnut Creek
(BCN) — A man who had been on a Walnut Creek BART train was admitted to the hospital early Thursday morning with a stab wound, according to authorities.
First responders with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were called to the station around midnight on a report of a person stabbed. Capt. Chris Toler said they were informed that a man was found with a stab wound in a bathroom at the BART station and that he was “not very coherent” and appeared to have lost a lot of blood.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital and his current condition is not known.
According to a spokesperson for BART, a passenger onboard a San Francisco-bound train called the dispatch center and said that a man with what appeared to be a stab wound had exited a train at the Walnut Creek Station.
“Just before midnight, officers located a male believed to be in his 40’s in the restroom with what appeared to be a single stab wound,” said Jim Allison, manager of media relations for BART. “The man was unable to provide any detailed information and was transported to a hospital for treatment with what was believed to be non-life-threatening wound.”
The exact circumstances surrounding the stabbing were not available and BART said the investigation is ongoing.
