Mechanicville residents help police arrest man accused of vehicle theft

MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Community cooperation in Mechanicville led to the arrest of a man accused of stealing from vehicles. Mechanicville Police Department said Zachary R. Gaulke, 27, is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny.

Police said they arrested Gaulke in collaboration with the Mechanicville community, using crucial information shared in interviews and commercial and residential surveillance videos. The department received several complaints about items stolen from vehicles, and community input helped police secure a warrant to arrest Gaulke.

Mechanicville Police arrested Gaulke on Thursday, September 26, for related charges and released to pre-trial services. Mechanicville City Court arraigned him for his most recent charges, and he remains in Saratoga County Jail in exchange for bail, pending further court proceedings.
