Meesho’s 9-Day Recharge Break: Netizens Applaud No-Laptop, No-Meeting Policy

Meesho, an online shopping platform, has announced a ‘Reset and Recharge’ break for all employees. To promote work-life balance, from October 26 to November 3, Meesho staff will enjoy a complete disconnect from work, with no calls, laptops, or meetings, allowing for a full break.

The company took it to LinkedIn to announce this fourth edition of initiative. The post read, “No laptops, Slack messages, emails, meetings, or stand-up calls, nothing work-related for 9 days!

We’re heading into our 4th consecutive company-wide “Reset and Recharge” break from October 26th to November 3rd. After the efforts put into this year and our successful Mega Blockbuster Sale, it’s time to fully unplug and focus on ourselves. This break is for us to recharge our minds and bodies for a fresh and energized start to the year ahead!”

This initiative has received mixed reactions from users on social media, describing it as ‘green flag’ for employees looking for a job. One user wrote, “I can not even imagine this in the current hustle-type work Culture across all Industries. Incredible, Meesho. You guys have set an example” while another wrote, “Meesho setting examples in this culture; it’s not all about money and setting breaking benchmarks. Sometimes it’s all about care and love for employees and families.”

A 9-day break isn’t just about rest; it’s about recharging our minds to foster fresh, innovative ideas. In the daily grind, we sometimes lose that creative spark. Initiatives like this help us regain that out-of-the-box thinking!”

Some users also highlighted that this 9-day break also included Diwali festival. One wrote, “Amazing marketing! But let’s break it down—between October 26th and November 3rd, we’ve got 4 days that are weekends (hello, Saturday/Sunday), 1 day for Diwali (festival vibes!), and since the company is in Bangalore, 1 day for Karnataka Day (state pride!). That leaves with just 3 extra days off!!”
