Muhammad Ali's grandson: Jake Paul, Mike Tyson fight 'robbed us'

(NewsNation) — Muhammad Ali’s grandson and professional boxer Nico Ali Walsh criticized Jake Paul following the influencer’s fight against Mike Tyson.

Walsh told “NewsNation Now” that he and Paul are “not fighting for the same sport, league.”

“He’s fighting for headlines, and I’m fighting for my bloodline,” Walsh said when asked if he’d ever fight Paul.

Walsh said the recent fight left a bad taste in many people’s mouths, especially boxing fans, due to the lack of genuine competition.

“I just think people were just dissatisfied with the whole thing. I think they realized that they felt scammed and felt robbed a little bit,” Walsh said.

The boos from a crowd wanting more action grew when Paul dropped his gloves before the final bell and bowed toward 58-year-old Mike Tyson. Paying homage to one of the biggest names in boxing history didn’t do much for the estimated 72,000 fans who filled the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys on Friday night.

Paul won an eight-round unanimous decision over Tyson as the hits didn’t match the hype in a fight between the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer and the former heavyweight champion in his first sanctioned pro bout in almost 20 years.

Netflix experienced streaming problems, according to many viewers on social media. Many viewers took to X and Bluesky to express their frustrations with streaming and buffering problems before and during the fight.

According to the website Down Detector, nearly 85,000 viewers logged problems with outages or streaming leading up to the fight.
