It will be the latest first 32º or colder temperature on the books here since O’Hare observations began in 1959. While many suburban locations have logged a freezing or subfreezing temperature so far this Autumn, the official stations at both O’Hare and Midway have not.

A huge trough across the Midwest to bring the coldest air of the season late next week. Models vary on specific timing, but they are in agreement that it’s coming.

Next Tuesday November 19th set-up: Warmer southerly flow means liquid precipitation (all rain).
Next Wednesday November 20th: Transition day, colder air slowly moving in from the west. Some light rain or sprinkles possible.
By next Friday November 22nd: Season’s coldest air arrives, potential for snow or snow showers.
