One dead in Ulster County house fire
HIGHLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A person is dead after a house fire in Highland. New York State Police said Phillip Damberg, 69, of Highland died of smoke inhalation.
On Christmas Day around 3 a.m., crews were called to an active structure fire on North Riverside Road. The Highland Fire Department, Milton Fire Department, and Esopus Fire Department worked to put out the fire.
When investigators were able to enter the home, they found Damberg dead in the bedroom. Police said the fire was caused by a wood-burning stove.
