Orange County theft suspect found with thousands of dollars worth of stolen iPhones

A suspect accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of iPhones was arrested in Irvine earlier this week.

The suspect was identified as Erick Isami Esquivel, 29, of Tustin, according to the Irvine Police Department.

For several weeks, police investigated reports of a man stealing Apple iPhones from victims’ front doorsteps shortly after a delivery courier dropped them off.

Detectives eventually identified Esquivel as the suspect and after spotting the man “acting suspiciously in a neighborhood,” they approached him.

Inside his car, police found a recently stolen iPhone along with several other possibly stolen cell phones. While searching the suspect’s home, officers discovered 11 more stolen iPhones inside.

Esquivel was arrested for grand theft and booked at the Orange County Jail.
