Passerby confronts man who punched woman and gets stabbed
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man who attempted to intervene in a physical altercation between a couple walking in the Midway District ended up getting stabbed in the back Thursday, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 38-year-old man was walking with a woman along the 3900 block of Sports Arena Boulevard around 10:15 p.m. At that same time, a 45 year-old-man was the front passenger of a vehicle driving along the same roadway.
Police said the passenger saw the man on foot punch the woman, prompting him to exit the vehicle and confront the other man. That’s when a physical fight between the men ensued.
Things then escalated when the 38-year-old man stabbed the other man in the back with an unknown object. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital.
The suspect was subsequently arrested, police said. Western Division detectives are handling the follow-up investigation. Anyone with information related to the altercation is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
