Person critically injured, cat killed in West Covina house fire on Thanksgiving

A house fire in West Covina on Thanksgiving night has left two people hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

According to the West Covina Fire Department, the blaze was at a home on the 1100 block of South Willow Avenue. Initial responders reported heavy smoke coming from the home and fire showing from the outside.

All residents of the home were able to escape before firefighters arrived. However, two of the victims were hospitalized with burn injuries.

1 of those victims was listed in critical condition, per authorities. As of Sunday there was no update on that person’s status.

Several animals also escaped the house, besides one cat. That cat was found dead inside the home.

The fire was eventually extinguished by fire crews, and no firefighters suffered any injuries. The blaze was contained to the single home, and didn’t spread to nearby residences.
