WINDHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley announced a promising update on one of the young dogs that survived a plane crash near Windham High Peak on November 24. After three weeks and multiple surgeries at a Connecticut veterinary hospital, Whiskey the Lab-mix puppy is on the mend as his recovery journey continues.
The shelter shared on Monday that Whiskey, who had two legs broken in the crash, continues to do sedated physical therapy. He is scheduled to have his splint removed later this week.
According to the shelter, the dog’s foster family said he is “doing great” while resting and enjoying all his new toys. Whiskey is looking at another four to five weeks in veterinary care before being able to move on to a permanent home.
The other dog to survive the crash, Pluto, a Yorkie/Terrier mix, had only minor bruises as a result of the incident. Seuk Kim, the plane’s pilot, as well as a third dog, Lisa, perished in the crash.
