Rishi Sunak bows out as UK opposition leader on Diwali – Times of India
LONDON: Rishi Sunak bowed out as UK opposition leader in Parliament Wednesday with a reference to his career’s Diwali milestones, being appointed the country’s first PM of Indian heritage two years ago during the festival of lights.
Sunak, who has been serving as interim leader of the Conservatives after the party’s election defeat in July, used his final Prime Minister‘s Questions (PMQs) for a light-hearted exchange with PM Starmer.
Alluding to speculation around his relocation plans to California, Sunak jokingly told his colleagues, “Today is my last appearance at PMQs and I am happy to confirm reports that I will now be spending more time in the greatest place on Earth, where the scenery is indeed worthy of a movie set and everybody is a character – that’s right, if anyone needs me, I will be in Yorkshire.”
