Rockies get the number 4 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft after having best odds for first

DENVER (KDVR) — The Major League Baseball Draft Lottery provided a bit of disappointment for the Colorado Rockies franchise.

After initially possessing the best odds alongside the Miami Marlins to land the first overall pick in the draft, the Rockies slipped all the way down to the fourth pick. The Marlins fell even further to the number seven pick.

The three teams that will draft ahead of the Rockies include the Washington Nationals with the first pick, the Los Angeles Angels with the second pick and the Seattle Mariners with the third. The Mariners had a 0.53% chance to win the first pick and leapfrogged 12 spots from their projected 15th pick to the third pick.

The Rockies will continue their streak of never picking first in the MLB Draft. The closest the team has come was in 2006 when they selected Greg Reynolds with the second pick.

The last time the Rockies had the number four pick in the draft, the team took right-handed pitcher, Riley Pint, from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Kansas.

In the latest Bleacher Report mock draft, right-handed pitcher, Tyler Bremner from UC Santa Barbara, would be the prospect taken in the fourth spot on draft night.

The 2025 MLB Draft will take place July 13 through July 15 in Atlanta during the MLB All-Star Week.
