Secretary Blinken’s Call with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi
The below is attributable to Spokesperson Matthew Miller:
Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi to congratulate Oman and the Omani people on their 54th National Day. Secretary Blinken affirmed the strength of the historic bilateral relationship between the United States and Oman.
The Secretary and Foreign Minister discussed the urgency of securing the release of Yemeni staff of the U.S. embassy in Sana’a and international and non-governmental organizations whom the Houthis have unlawfully detained. The Secretary shared his great concern over the treatment and conditions of the detainees. They also discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts to reach an enduring diplomatic resolution along the Blue Line that fully implements United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and an end to the war in Gaza that provides for the release of the hostages and a significant and sustained increase in humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza.
