Shark Tank India-Fame YesMadam Issues Clarification Over Firing Stressed Staff Fiasco; Internet Isn’t Buying It

YesMadam, a Shark Tank India S3 contestant YesMadam that stirred the pot with a leaked email doing the rounds of the internet, has come up with the lamest excuse ever. For the unversed, this is what the company did earlier. In its latest social media posts, the salon servicing startup claimed that they did not really fire the employees for expressing they were stressed rather they were given a break to reset, encouraged to release their stress, offered a chance to relax, and were urged to rest and recharge. The company also introduced a ‘Happy 2 Heal’ corporate program that offers head massages and spa sessions right at workplaces. Further, the company also announced ‘India’s first-ever De-Stress Leave Policy,’ through which the YesMadam employees will avail 6 de-stress paid leaves in a year for mental health along with a complimentary spa session at their home.

Reactions poured in with the desi Internet taking a dig at the startup over the “cover up” PR statement. Netizens remarked that they are not buying the clarification issued by the company. Some suggested firing the person who approved “this stupid PR stunt.” Others reminded that “companies need to know where to draw a line.” Users remarked that the marketing team at YesMadam needs therapy and schooling on the basics of “good publicity.” “This was an embarrassing act,” jibed one, while other users tagged the Advertising Standards Council of India to take suo motu cognizance of the “utterly tone deaf campaign.” A handful of users on LinkedIn recalled the Poonam Pandey cancer death campaign. The internet in almost perfect unison stated that if this was a PR campaign then it did not achieve its goal, and if it was not then it is all the more worse.
