Shark Tank Pakistan: Viral Blue-Eyed Chaiwala From Islamabad, Arshad Khan Bags 1 Crore Deal For His Chai Business
Arshad Khan, the world-renowned ‘blue-eyed chaiwala’ from Pakistan, became an internet sensation in 2016 when his candid photo from an Islamabad tea stall went viral. Soon the chai vendor transitioned his career into modeling, but the lad didn’t stop there. In the inaugural season of Pakistan’s very own business reality show Shark Tank Pakistan, Arshad presented his brand Chaiwala & Co., stating that he wanted to make Pakistani chai an international symbol.

Arshad’s chai brand has its presence in Pakistan as well as London. Arshad said that he wanted to offer the authentic ‘Chai Dhaba’ experience to its customers with his brand both locally and globally. Speaking about the cafe in London, the enterprising Chaipreneuer stated that he wanted to bring the homely experience of the bustling streets of Pakistan to the South Asian diaspora in the UK. The cafe integrates elements of Pakistani street aesthetics in its design and decor. He narrated how the business took a hit during the pandemic in 2020 but bounced back in no time with three outlets in London that run on a franchisee model, earning him PKR 35k with five percent royalty. At the show, along with business partner Kazim Hasan, he demanded PKR 1 crore (about INR 30 lakh) for five percent equity in his brand. While Sharks Junaid Iqbal and Faisal Aftab appreciated the business but pulled off a Namita Thapar (IYKYK), Sharks Rabeel Warriach and Romanna Dada’s offer of 1 crore for a 25 per cent equity.
