Singham Again Vs. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Box Office Day 10: Kartik Aaryan Starrer Gains Momentum, Crosses ₹300 Crore
This Diwali, Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again clashed with Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Both were the third installments of successful franchises with high expectations riding on them.
Now, on the ninth day, both movies have held on to double digit collections. While Singham Again collected Rs. 11.5 crores, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 made Rs. 15.5 crore. It was a big jump for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 as it had a comparatively slower Thursday and Friday, earning a shade less than Rs. 10 crores on both days.
Singham Again faced a decline over the same time period, but managed to buck the trend on Saturday. With the total domestic collection of Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 at Rs. 192.5 crore and Rs. 183 crore, respectively, it might seem like the former is winning the race.
It’s important to note that Singham Again – starring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Arjun Kapoor with cameos from Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar – had a big Rs. 121.75 crore opening weekend. In comparison, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 – with Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Vidya Balan – made more than Rs. 106 crore. But, since then, both movies have been going neck-to-neck, with the horror comedy gaining an edge over the action drama.
The true reflection of this clash lies in the audience occupancy across the country. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, in its second week, is holding on to almost 36% occupancy as opposed to Singham Again, which has a 30% occupancy. Take, for instance, Mumbai and NCR where Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 did 44.5% (801 shows) and 34.75% (1060 shows), and Singham Again did 38.5% (814 shows) and 25 % (906 shows).
The fortune of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is looking up, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if it surpasses the collections of Singham Again in the domestic market as the days progress.
