South Colonie students Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The holidays are a season of giving, and some students in Colonie got the chance to lend a helping hand to other local kids on Monday. Students at Shaker Road Elementary School took part in the annual Stuff the Bus campaign for Toys for Tots, a holiday tradition in South Colonie for the last 18 years.
Officials said, each year, the district collects more than 2,000 toys for children in need.
“We are very proud of how generous our community is,” Shaker Road Elementary Principal Bill Dollard said. “Any time the school puts out a call to help people outside of the school walls, it is answered loudly. We are very proud of that.”
There’s still time to provide donations for Toys for Tots. The South Colonie District Office will be accepting gifts through next Monday.
Organizers said they need toys for boys and girls of all ages.
