Subaru’s Loneliest Crossover Gets Massive Price Cuts For 2025
The pricing for the 2025 Subaru Solterra has been announced, and it spells good news for those eyeing the star-spangled crossover EV. Following the price cut employed on its twin, the Toyota bZ4X, the 2025 Solterra also received a huge price change, even more substantial than what was seen on its counterpart, matching the reduction seen on the Lexus RZ for one trim.

New Touring Onyx Edition For 2025
For the 2025 model year, Subaru added a new top-spec variant, the Solterra Touring Onyx Edition, priced at $45,495. The new trim builds upon the Touring trim but gets a high gloss black front underguard; black 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels; black roof pillars, shoulder line trim, door frame, rear quarter window and roof spoiler; and black badges. Two-tone exterior color options are also exclusive to Touring Onyx Edition.

Subaru trademarked and launched the ‘STe’ nomenclature last year but almost nobody noticed.
The black accents are also found in the cabin, primarily on the front and rear doors and the water-resistant StarTex trimmed upholstery, found on most Subarus. Unfortunately, Subaru failed to provide images of the Solterra Touring Onyx Edition, so we have no idea how these new black accents look on the electric crossover.
No Other Changes After The Price Slash
Despite the huge price cut, there are no other changes to the Solterra’s equipment and powertrain setup. This means the slew of improvements added to the 2024 lineup carries on, including the square steering wheel, updated Subaru EyeSight suite of driver-assist features, and faster charging time. All variants come with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, Dual Function X-Mode, and StarDrive for smooth torque delivery.

The Subaru WRX, Ascent, And Solterra Stand Out Where It Matters Most
Yes, competitors may be more exciting or flashier, but can they boast the awards of these two?
Subaru says the 2025 Solterra will arrive at showrooms nationwide early next year, with no specific timeline set. All Solterras also qualify for applicable federal tax credits of up to $7,500 for some consumers, according to the automaker. The price cut is quite important for this model, as it has struggled to sell this year. As of November 2024, Subaru has only moved 11,282 Solterra units, the second-slowest seller of the brand in America, just above the BRZ.
