The minimum wage is increasing in Colorado: Here's what workers will make in 2025
DENVER (KDVR) — Starting in January, minimum-wage workers across Colorado will see an increase in their paychecks. However, how much of an increase they get will depend on where they work.
There is a statewide minimum wage that increases every year. This was implemented In 2024, the minimum wage was $14.42. Starting Jan. 1, 2025, that will increase to $14.81.
Overall, that will result in about $811 more per year for full-time workers or about $30,804 in total. This is the first time that most minimum wage workers in the state will make over $30,000.
People who make tips also saw an $0.39-an-hour increase and will make $11.79 an hour starting Jan. 1.
However, if you work in Denver, Edgewater, Boulder or unincorporated Boulder County, you will be making a bit more than the statewide minimum.
Workers in the City and County of Denver have the highest minimum wage in the state. Starting in January, workers in the Mile High City will get $18.81 per hour, a 52-cent increase from 2023. This translates into an extra $1,081 annually before taxes and $39,124 in total.
Those who make tips will also see the same 52-cent increase, with a new hourly minimum wage of $15.79 in Denver starting in January.
The following are the minimum wage increases across the state:
- Colorado (applies if there is no local minimum) – $14.81, or $11.79 with tips
- Denver – $18.81, or $15.75 with tips
- Edgewater – $16.52 or $13.50 with tips
- Boulder – $15.57 or $12.55 with tips
- Unincorporated Boulder County – $16.57 or $13.55 with tips
Employees who worked within Boulder city limits previously followed the statewide minimum wage. However, Boulder City Council approved an ordinance establishing its own minimum wage of $15.57, which is around 5% higher than the statewide minimum wage.
